Behaviour of ZPT vs Vitec TMAQ
ZPT and the Vitec TMAQ operate in different ways to fully protect coated surfaces. Figure 4 and 5 serve to illustrate these different behaviours. Figure 4 shows a piece of linen coated only with ZnPy which has diffused away from the surface and caused a ring of clearing around the fabric where the 5-strain cocktail of MRSA is unable to grow. In contrast, Figure 5 shows a piece of fabric coated only with the Vitec TMAQ. TMAQ is chemically bonded to the surface of the linen, and does not diffuse away. Thus bacteria are able to grow up to the edge of the linen. However as soon as they contact the linen they are killed. Thus bacteria are unable to grow on linens coated with the Vitec TMAQ.
