Vitec's Technolgy
Vitec’s antimicrobial technology continually inhibits the growth of harmful microbes such as bacteria, fungi, mould, mildew, algae, yeasts and viruses. This technology permanently bonds at a molecular level to almost all substrates and surfaces, leaving a highly durable, active antimicrobial coating.
Unlike conventional biocides that are designed to leach out and be absorbed by micro-organisms, Vitec’s antimicrobial permanently bonds to the application’s surface. It acts like a bed of nails, destroying micro-organisms on contact by rupturing the cell membrane (this is known as a ‘mechanical kill’) instead of poisoning. This advance in technology makes the antimicrobial a safer, more effective alternative to conventional biocides.
Vitec’s technology provides a long-term effective control of micro-organisms that are commonly associated with human and building health problems. The antimicrobial agent is non-migratory; it does not leach, gas or volatise. It permanently inhibits mould, mildew, bacteria and odours, and reduces staining and deterioration, prolonging the life of the product. The antimicrobial agent permanently bonds to surfaces to form a new antimicrobial surface which is extremely durable and which does not exhibit loss of activity over the normal life of the treated surface.
Unlike other antimicrobial materials, Vitec’s elite technology has never been shown to allow or cause microbial adaptation, resistance, diffusion or migration. It is significantly different from conventional sanitisers, disinfectants, bleaches or biocides which, themselves, contaminate the environment with undesirable chemicals.
